Rogan's one year appointment

Rogan had his one year appointment on Monday and all is looking great. He now weighs 21 lbs. He has actually gone down in wight since he has become so mobile, which is amazing to me because he eats more than I do most times and I too enjoy eating! I am honestly amazed at how much that boy can eat. Grayson went with us to the appointment and I must say, he was pretty good during the visit. My big boy Grayson, he is such the helper and good listener for the most part. Rogan got a couple of vaccinations and had a slight fever the day following but is doing wonderful now. Rogan got an 'A' on his visit for accomplishments at his age, clapping, words he says and sounds and all that good stuff. Grayson has been introducing Rogan to the guitar as you can see from the photos. Some day, they may be 'The Mathias Brother's Band'. It could happen, they both love music! Grayson is great with lyrics.

If the doctor's visit wasn't enough for Rogan, he also went to his first dental appointment! We had to reschedule the last one due to the weather. I was so proud of Grayson. He sat in the chair like a big boy and had a great time. He even got his first films taken of his teeth. Rogan on the other hand was not happy what so ever to be at the appointment once he had to lay back in mine and Dr. Kugar's lap. He did a lot of screaming which is VERY common at his age. I remember those days with Grayson also. Rogan's teeth look great. Rogan is also flossing already like his big brother Grayson.

I was thinking to myself the other day, most children are scared of the closet, not our Grayson. When we go in his room in the morning and after nap, we are sure to find him hiding out in his closet. He loves it. I sure did not when I was his age. Grayson also went through his library and handed some books down to Rogan. He was very excited to pass his books to his baby brother. Rogan and Grayson have been enjoying Rogan's new toys from his birthday.

To let you all know, for now, we will continue to be here in Indiana. Qdoba decided not to move any one at this point but to have one of the Area Director's go to South Carolina once a month for a week. I am glad that is not Marc. I would rather live there than have him gone that often. That would be harder for our family. Marc and I were talking the other evening and he is really happy with his job right now and really doesn't want that to change. That makes me happy because doing some thing your truly enjoy is hard to find these days. So the Mathias' will continue to stay Indiana at this point. I have to say, I too am very pleased with Marc's job. He doesn't leave until 9:00 am and is usually home by 5:00 unless it is meeting week and they treat him great. He enjoys the people he works with. I am just glad to be at home raising my beautiful boys!

Fun, Fun...Rogan is One!!!

Wow!!! The day my baby reaches a huge marker in his baby years....turning one! Looking back on the past year as I read over my blog from the time he came how, it is truly amazing how much he has changed! I still remember his baby smell and the first time I held him and ah yes...the first cry. It is so vivid to me. I remember walking up and down the hallway at the hospital after he was born b/c it was the first time in a long time I was able to walk without horrible pain. and do I dare say, I think we may try it again...who knows! I remember not wanting to put him down for even a second to sleep at the hospital because I was so excited to finally meet this little miracle that had been growing in my belly for what seemed eternity...nine months.
I remember charting all his first feedings on the chart they send home from the hospital. Watching and listening for him to breath while sleeping and endless, sleepless nights of feedings and soothing. I would still do it all over again. The first smile and Rogan laughing in his sleep! My big boy...one year old now claps. It is so cute! My very favorite thing that he does is when he gets so excited, he holds his hands out and they shake all over along with his toes. I just love it and his laugh lights up the room! Honestly, it sounds just like Grayson's just a bit softer! I love how he says Dada and Mama. He tries to say kitty and dog and makes some letter sounds. He loves flap books too.
Rogan's birthday was much fun! He was a bit on the irritable side that day so we decided to stay home verses going to The Children's Museum. We will save that for another day. We just played at home after lunch. I made lasagna for dinner, Rogan loves it! Afterwards, we had cake that I made and opened some gifts from us and other family members. It turned out to be a great day even with me having my mommy moments about the big one year! Rogan's party went very well also. A few friends couldn't make it b/c they were not feeling well. I am sure we will see them soon though with all the spring birthdays coming up. Rogan likes cake and gets very excited about it! Thank you to every one for making my baby's first birthday a special one. He will always be my baby no matter how old he gets just like big brother Grayson.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

It was Rogan's first Valentine's Day. He enjoyed his Elmo card. Grayson got some Fannie May candy...my favorite. We had a special treat for breakfast...donuts and enchiladas for dinner. We Mathias' love our Mexican food. Well, the count down is just about over. Tomorrow my baby will turn one! February 16, 2009 Rogan came into our lives. He is such a sweet little guy! He says, "Uh-oh," a lot. It has become his new favorite word. He also says bye (Ba) and Hi in a vary loud screech! He loves to wave hi and bye! He stands on his own but not walking yet. He cruises around fast. Rogan went outside to discover playing in the snow today with big brother Grayson. Rogan is also enjoying cause and effect. "If I press this button, this will happen." Such as turning off the light and turning it back on. I am having my moment as I do every year when Grayson gets older. It is so hard to believe that Rogan is turning one. Where has my baby gone....!
The other day, I heard Grayson in his room talking to himself and when I went up there, he was putting away his laundry in the drawers and hanging it. I had put a basket on his bed to put away at nap time and he took it upon himself to put it ALL away. I was so proud of him. May I also say, he loves to wash his clothes and put the clothes in the washer along with detergent and fabric softener. He also insists on putting them in the dryer and knows the difference between darks and lights and how to separate them. His wife will love me someday! He is all Mommy and can't stand to have things out of place. We shall see if it carries over to Rogan. I am thinking it will because he loves to sweep and watch me make dinner, just to name a few. Grayson is very into the 'why' phase at this moment and puts great thought into it. He asked Marc the other day if his Daddy taught him to swim like Marc does him. Rogan and Grayson's highlight of the day (every day) is when Daddy comes walking through the door. Grason hides and runs to Marc and Rogan crawls as fast as his little body will carry him. Rogan then pulls on Daddy's pants until he picks him up.
Well, with all of this snow, I hope we make it to 'Bob the Builder' at The Children's Museum tomorrow. That is one of our big plans for Rogan's celebration. Grayson was so excited to pick out a present for his little brother. We made a cake for Rogan this morning. He loves strawberries so that is the flavor we chose! :) Our next update will be all about baby Rogan and his birthday bash.

Snow Day!!!

Snow again...I am ready for spring! I think I have had 3 colds along with 3 sinus infections...yuk! Poor Rogan has had 3 colds and 3 ear infections. My boys don't get too sick but when they get a cold it always means ear infection. I guess they got my anatomy with their ears. It is all about the anatomy you know. Well, my baby turns one on Tuesday. I can't believe a whole year has come and gone. I was picking out his cake and about cried. I get the same way every year on Grayson's birthday.
Grayson and I were suppose to go to his school tonight for a Valentine's Day celebration but with the snow day, that is cancelled. Hopefully, they will make it another day. The boys both have dental appointments tomorrow. It will be Rogan's first. He now has 6 teeth and another coming through. He is is in the transition from breast milk to whole milk and let me say, he thus far, does not care for whole milk. Grayson did the same thing so I'm not too concerned. I am excited to not have my life revolve around nursing. We are looking forward to May. We have made reservations for our Florida vacation and right now, that sounds wonderful. It will be Rogan's first plane ride and first trip to Disney, can't wait. No news about the possible move to South Carolina. We will keep you all up to date. Some of the photos are of open gym I took the boys to along with some of their buddies that met us there. It was lots of fun.
