August...where did it go!! It seems like yesterday we were discussing in Grayson's room, how many more days were left in July before he could turn the page on his Disney calender to the month of August! At the beginning of August, we took a trip to the State Fair! What fun!!! We all love going each year! The boys love walking through the, "Little Hands on the Farm," where they pick eggs, milk a cow, plant crops and harvest them and then take their money to the market where they get to pick out, juice, string cheese or applesauce. We also enjoyed watching the amazing fish at The DNR building (Department of Natural Resources). It is so pretty back there! There's even a butterfly garden to walk through. Last but not least, we have to look at the animals!
We also enjoyed our time swimming at The YMCA! Is was so nice this month because it was much less crowded! Rogan loves the splash pad and is becoming more and more daring in the deep end! Grayson is just a pro at swimming now! He does great and is very confident in the water now and has been for a few years.
The boys and I are still enjoying our garden! We check our garden each and every morning and water it. Tomatoes are now turning green and we are still getting zucchini. Our green peppers are getting closer to being ripe and the green beans are maturing as well. Next year we plan on making it even bigger and added other stuff to it.
Last week, we headed over to Grayson's new school to meet his kindergarten teacher, to say the least...she is amazing! She is so organized, structured and kind, I knew that would be a perfect fit for our Grayson because that is the environment he is used to here at home. His room at school is just adorable! We knew right away he would love her. On Monday, we went to school for an ice cream social where he met Mrs. Turner. When he walked in, he had to find his name and seat and discover what shape was on the back of his chair. Afterwards, Mrs. Turner met him and and introduced herself and asked him what shape he found on his chair. He got a sticker to place on his mail box. He was so excited to go to school!! He has been all along but now he could put a face with his teacher's name.
Today was the big day! Grayson woke up several times last night, due to being anxious. For those of you that don't know Grayson's sleeping pattern, he rarely wakes up during the night and is a great sleeper! Yea for us and him, that is so important for their growth and development. Drop off today was a bit crazy it being first day but we made it through the madness and Grayson did great I was told! He was so afraid this morning he was going to be late because of all the traffic he got a bit upset! He came out with a big smile and told me in detail all about his day and how much he liked Mrs. Turner! We are so proud of our big boy. Marc will take him to school and Rogan and I will pick him up.
Yesterday we made a trip to The Children's Museum before school starts. We had a great time also and it was much nicer than the last time we went for the fact that it wasn't busy either. My boys just love the 'Take me to Egypt' exhibit and also the newer exhibit down stairs with a new dig site and coral and underwater adventures. My boys have been so busy this summer and this past week. I took the boys shopping to get some new stuff for school and some new shoes. Grayson got new light up Star Wars shoes at Stride Rite and Rogan is counting down the months until he can wear an 8.5 and be in the preschool section of shoes that look like big brothers. That should be November seeing how he skipped over a size this summer. The boys also got new hair cuts this week at Cookie Cutters. Afterwards, we went over the the bounce place that also has a zip line just Grayson's size and a rock climbing wall to play. It is in the same building as Cookie Cutters.
We hope all of you enjoyed reading our adventures this summer. The boys keep talking about our Smoky Mountain trip in September. I feel so lucky and blessed to be able to be a part of all their milestones and adventures each day since I stay home with them. I will miss Grayson each day in the morning but I know Rogan will enjoy his one on one time. I signed Rogan up for reading and craft at the library on Mondays while Grayson is in school. It's so hard to believe our Grayson is in kindergarten. Just yesterday, he was Rogan's size and starting preschool. Rogan won't go until next year. We shall keep you posted on Grayson's kindergarten adventures and the many adventures of Rogan.
