Visiting Santa with Grandma at The State Museum
How many more days until Christmas? That's the popular question around our house these days. Rogan wakes up very early every day and runs downstairs to, One: turn on the tree lights, Two: look for Neijel our elf and Three: move the candy cane on our advent calender one more day closer to Christmas! He's so excited he can hardly stand it. Yes, Grayson is just as excited but he also wants to sleep a bit longer than early bird Rogan. I don't blame him! Some days I wish I were sleeping even thirty minutes more. There are so many fun things to do in celebration of the most wonderful time of the year! We have had such a great time revisiting all of our holiday family traditions.
The boys couldn't wait to put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving. That's such a treat for all of us! We have so many special ornaments, from our hand painted Mickey ornaments to our special ornaments Santa leaves every year! So fun opening each one up and picking that special place on the tree where it will hang for the season! The boys love to decorate, it's the best part! The following weekend we made a trip to The State Museum with Grandma as we do every year since the boys were each very small. We take a train ride at Celebration Crossing on the L.S.Ayres train (many nostalgic memories for all), after our train ride, we make our way to Santa where the boys get to tell him their list of wishes. Afterwards we like to admire the old display windows and beautiful Christmas trees throughout the museum. Yes, next we must go the the museum store to pick out rocks because according to Rogan, "The State Museum has the best!" is case you didn't know, Rogan is a rock collector. What a magical adventure it is every year when we visit Santa at The State Museum! We look forward to it each December.
We also made our way to The Children's Museum for 'Jolly Days'! Love it and the best part...The Yule Slide!!! Who knew a slide could be so much fun right! One of the great things about being a parent is getting to experience all these fun holiday child festivities with our children. There's no greater gift! We also have done a lot of baking this season as always. The boys favorite is my sugar cookies. They love making the dough and rolling it out and cutting it and of course...eating it! When they've finished that, they are ready to ice the cookies and eat the cookies! We took lots of yummy goodies to neighbors and friend's too! The boys love making their ginger bread houses every year also. It's a fun event our whole family enjoys.
This past Sunday, we took the boys on 'The Polar Bear Express' here in Fishers. That was so much fun! I was just as excited as the boys were! Maybe because I love the story as do our boys! We boarded the train after showing our tickets. Shortly there after, the train took off headed for the North Pole. Along the way we got hot chocolate and cookies. After we finished our snacks, we heard a story of how the train became know as, 'The Polar Bear Express'. After the story the man in red himself joined us...Santa! We shared a perfect Sunday afternoon on The Polar Bear Express. On our way home we visited the famous Reynold's light display! It is a sight to see!
Well, this week we plan on making our way to Christmas at The Zoo. We hope the weather stays a bit warmer for Wednesday when we journey there. I still want to take Rogan to Conner Prairie to see the Ginger Bread Village! It's just amazing these phenomenal houses on display! I went with Grayson and his class to see them last week. Rogan has seen them in the past but I think he would enjoy it again. Grayson's favorite was the Lucas Oil stadium ginger bread house. He's become a huge football fan! He is either watching football, playing football, reading about football or playing Madden football! He will even watch recorded football games! We hope everyone is having a memorable holiday season and enjoying it with their family. Marc and I were even able to go see 'Plaid Tidings' a Christmas play showing here in Noblesville at The Belfry! It was so fun! The boys are ready for more snow and more hot chocolate and best of all...Christmas!
